The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education is now accepting applications for the Foreign Scholarship Program 2026.
With full financial support, this program aims to empower the next generation of leaders to gain global academic excellence and contribute to the future development of Sri Lanka.
🎯 Program Overview
- Target Group: Students of the GCE A/L 2025 batch.
- Study Level: Undergraduate (Bachelor’s Degree).
- University Scope: Top 500 universities globally (QS, THE, or ARWU rankings).
- Closing Date: 11 May 2026.
🧾 Scholarship Benefits
This is a fully funded scholarship covering up to 4 years of study, with a maximum value of Rs. 20,000,000 per year.

✅ Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Citizenship: Must be a Sri Lankan citizen.
- Academic: Successfully completed GCE A/L 2025.
- Common General Test: Scored at least 30%.
- English Proficiency: Obtained a “C” pass or above in General English.
- Age: Must be 18 years or older.
- Health: Must be medically fit for overseas study and willing to relocate.

Step 1: Research & Selection
Choose a degree program and a university ranked within the Top 500 globally according to:
- QS World University Rankings
- Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings
- Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU)
Step 2: Online Application
Register and submit your application through the official portal:

Step 3: Selection
- Candidates will be shortlisted based on academic merit.
- Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a structured interview.
Step 4: Finalization
- Apply to your chosen university and obtain a placement letter.
- Sign the formal scholarship agreement with the Ministry.
⚠️ Important Conditions
- Degree Level: This scholarship is strictly for Bachelor’s Degrees only.
- Service Bond: Selected students must return to Sri Lanka upon completion of their studies to contribute to national development.
- UGC Admission: Students who accept this scholarship will not be eligible for local university admission through the UGC.
